Tips Before You Go Parasailing

Parasailing is a fun and enjoyable activity that almost anyone can enjoy. A good-weathered summer day can be the best day to go parasailing at your local beach or lake. If it is your first time parasailing, there are a few precautions you want to take before you strap in and lift off. Consider following these steps before going parasailing to ensure you have a great time!

Equipment

If this is your first time parasailing, it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the necessary equipment for the activity. Parasailing requires passengers to wear a life jacket at all times. The passengers will be seated in a body harness that attaches to the passenger tow bar. The passenger tow bar is attached to the chute and the towline that runs on to the boat. These are the essential pieces of equipment when parasailing and ensuring that they are in good condition can determine a good parasailing adventure to a bad one.

Know The Company

There are a variety of parasailing companies out there that can take you on your adventure but choosing one that you trust is key. Research companies before settling on one and make sure you take the time to read reviews and recommendations from previous passengers. If there seems to be a copious amount of negative reviews online, then look for another more trusting company.

Weather & Surrounding Area

Much of parasailing relies on the weather of that day. A clear sky and sunny day give way to a great day of parasailing whereas a day with dark clouds and mild to heavy winds is one where you should think about rescheduling. Be sure to know what the forecast is for that day and plan accordingly. Do not go out on the water on a day where there is potential for a storm or heavy winds. Another factor to think about is the surrounding area where you are going parasailing. The surrounding area should be clear of any hills or large structures that could potentially cause injury.

Communication

Although you will not be able to talk to the parasailing crew while up in the air, it is important to know signals and gestures so you can communicate effectively while in the air. Learn and understand what certain gestures mean so if there is a problem during the flight you can communicate that to the crew and vice versa.
